Recently I came across a verse I have read several times before; 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
In all things, give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
But it hit me much harder this time.
There is so much power in that short verse. God's will is for us to thank Him at all times, no matter what the circumstance. This falls under God's ultimate will for us; "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." which is found in several books of the Bible.
I have found myself repeating that scripture over and over again throughout the day, just to remind myself that no matter what I am doing, I am to be praising Him through whatever means possible. Even if it's just thinking of how awesome He is despite what's going on.
As I learn lessons like this one, I wish I would have paid much more attention when I was younger to what my parents and couples in the church tried to teach me at a super young age. Verses that I dismiss because I've heard them a million times are starting to really impact me. It's stinkin awesome! I'm sure any of you who have grown up in the church like I have know exactly what I mean.
